It’s the 9th of May, the sun is shining, the sky is blue and I’m sitting in the Robert Denholm House grounds thinking through our OK! Fairy Tale advert and Blog to celebrate the Royal Wedding when I see in the hedgerow a deer surrounded by rabbits.  I see them often when it’s quiet and it always makes me think of Snow White…  This is when it hits me – let’s have some fun & imagine how a Princess could have an RDHwedding!!

An imagination, artistic licence and a giggle are required, however, I hope it inspires you to hold your own magical day with us.

Sleeping Beauty and Prince Charming – Their fairy tale wedding dreams brought to reality by the RDHwedding Partners.

Aurora – aka Sleeping Beauty was woken gently by Claire Portman, in a local hotel for she had over slept and was supposed to be getting ready in the Redwood Room, Robert Denholm House.

The delicious smell of bacon sandwiches greeted her as Hot Rocks had arrived early to the venue so the Hog Roast could be tenderly cooked over a period of 10 hours prior to serving with a range of salads and other BBQ bites later that evening.

After Aurora’s breakfast, Claire Portman set to work on her hair and make-up.  The ladies giggled away, helping Aurora to relax and forget about her pre-wedding jitters – after all, she knew that the Event Management team had everything in hand.

The florist, Jill, was busy creating the most stunning floral displays – a beautiful aroma filled the house.

The RDH chivari chairs for the Civil Ceremony had been set-up in the Capenor Room on the Friday evening ready for Sara, to add her finishing touches and wedding décor throughout the house.

Laure, had designed a fabulous wedding cake – a real wow factor which once set-up in front of the white flower wall opposite the main entrance in the Grand Hall really took the guests breath away.

Lisa, had also been booked to supply additional treats as Aurora and Prince Charming definitely had a sweet tooth!

A cupcake tower was positioned in the Belvedere Room framed by the alcove, beautifully dressed with trailing ivy and roses as a reminder of how Charming had rescued her.

Spinning wheel themed decorated biscuits had been made as the place names for the dining tables which were being set-up in the Belvedere Room.  Rose gold cutlery, perfect white crockery and linen had been pre-delivered by and was now lovingly being laid by the team from who were providing the sumptuous – and filling –  three course Wedding Breakfast.

Within the 25acres of stunning grounds, kids’ corner was being set up with the movable goal posts for a game of football and a selection of bouncy castles and activities provided by Simon,  Georgia, dropped by later in the afternoon to provide a yummy ice-cream for everyone to cool down with.

Time flew by and it wasn’t long before Prince Charming arrived with his Best Man and Ushers.  Button holes in place, a sip of a welcome drink from the RDH bar and it was time for him to have some photographs taken with his family by their chosen photographer, Jacqueline,

The Registrars, arrived, checked the Ceremony room and then settled to meet with the Groom whilst Jacqueline, the photographer, took photographs of Aurora having her finishing touches done.

Guests were now arriving and being directed to their comfortable RDH chivari chairs to be seated.  Beautiful background music was being played by a string quartet who they had chosen with Ambrose Harcourt, – especially difficult as such a wide range of genres are available.

Aurora slipped unnoticed from the Redwood into the Belvedere Room as both have patio doors leading to the rear grounds to have her own Registrar meet.

The King then met with his daughter, handed her the magnificent bridal bouquet and had a quiet moment together whilst the Page Boys and Flower Girls were getting out of the wedding cars provided by Peter,

The guests were greeted and the Ceremony began.  The Flower Girls led the way throwing petals onto the carpet aisle where lanterns were positioned at the end of each row.  The Page Boys followed with the youngest holding a cute sign “Here Comes The Bride!” – He got embarrassed as everyone cooed and dashed to his chair holding his red face in his hands.

The music changed and the Bride entered to gasps of delight – Aurora was simply stunning!

The couple had chosen to have a couple of non-religious readings within the ceremony which were lovingly read by her best friends Cinderella and Snow White.  Now all three of them would be married to their Prince Charming!!!

It’s worth adding here that Cinderella had her hair and make-up done by the amazing Nadine,; Snow White had air-brush make-up by Tania, and the Flower Girls’ hair had been carefully styled by Beckie,

The vows were said, the rings exchanged, photographs taken by all and the Wedding Certificate was presented. The couple, followed by their bridal party lead the way back up the aisle as guests threw confetti.

Greeting their guests and thanking them for coming, Aurora and Charming stood in the Grand Hall, sipping Summer Pimms (Strawberry Pimms mixed with Cream Soda is divine!) They then directed their guests through the Belvedere Room and out into the grounds for group photographs.

A group shot on the grass laid to lawn surrounded by trees was followed with a photograph of the Bridal Party, Family and all guests standing in front of the house creating an amazing landscape image.

The guests remained on the patio where they were served a range of delicious canapes provided by and their own glass of refreshing Pimms, Bucks Fizz or soft drink.

RDH and To Have and To Hire provided a range of garden games to keep everyone entertained whilst watching the Family, Bridal Party and Couple have photographs taken by the beautiful acer trees with leaves in vibrant shades of red and green.

Photographs of the couple were taken around the grounds, finishing in the house allowing them to have a few quiet moments together.

The three good fairies had left their wands at home and so magicians Andrew Kelly, and Neil Edwards, happily entertained the guests at their tables whilst the Wedding Breakfast took place.

The meal ended with speeches using a microphone kindly provided by Mike, who had also provided the indoor disco.

Aaron from Party Doctors, had erected a beautiful marquee within the grounds to create an amazing party space for the young and young at heart.  They listened to tunes they knew, danced on the LED dancefloor and chilled on sofas whilst sipping drinks from the Bar where they were impressed by the Fairing Cocktail Barman.  The ice-sculpture and vodka luge was a hit, as was the selection of chocolate fountains with fruit and sweet accompaniments.

Natalie aka Miss Ballooniverse, made sure that she visited all areas of the party to ensure that everyone had the opportunity to experience her brilliant balloon modelling entertainment.

Aurora chose Amanda, to set up her table of props and backdrop indoors for some photo fun.

The DJ took a break, however the music continued with Jane Clarity, singing beautifully.

Our two firework companies joined forces to take part in this special event, both having won many competitions for displays with or without music.  Nic, and Jason, provided an amazing display that really lit-up the sky and provided an amazing wow factor.

Guests were lured back inside by 11:00pm as The Famous Five and Friends Band, began to play.

Sleeping Beauty and Prince Charming invited their frequent cake making friends to relax and enjoy the occasion rather than work.  That said, they should still get a special mention.  Kate,; Karen, and Ann,

Aurora and Prince Charming had previously held an Engagement Garden Party where Dani, had provided fun vintage crockery, cuisine and a delicious naked cake.  The Engagement Party had taken place in the grounds of Robert Denholm House within a luxury marquee via Gary,  Fabulous floristry, brilliant balloon arches and delightful décor had been installed by Annabel,

Carole, had served a delicious buffet, followed by the on-trend  – surprisingly owned by a dentist! – the sweet treat allows guests to choose their own ice-cream flavours which is then created in front of their eyes!  One of the choices was a scrummy cake made by Karen,

Within the party their Celebrant friend, Claire, conducted a small ceremony focusing on their union, personal touches, friends and family as this wouldn’t be included within the Civil Ceremony.

Paula, made a surprise engagement gift, a floral tiara and small bouquet and provided beautiful décor for the Celebrant ceremony.

Following the Vintage theme, Neill, brought along his VW Campervan used on this occasion as a vintage photo booth, however can also be used for cool wedding transport.

The official Engagement Party photos were captured by Colin Leonard,, beautiful!

The only thing to say really is… They all lived happily ever after – with photographs being taken by Matt, at every special occasion, party and event also held at Robert Denholm House!!

The End x
